Flashback Friday - Gallier Hall

Today we are highlighting Gallier Hall – Lafayette Street, West and North Façade Restoration, which was largely completed by our Plaster Division in 2019. Along with new plaster, Stewart Interiors also specializes in plaster restoration throughout the New Orleans and surrounding areas. We believe we have THE BEST plaster restoration personnel in the south. This includes our Plaster Jobsite Foreman, Randy Johnson, who oversaw the stabilization and restoration of the classical portico/primary façade of the historic 1850 Gallier Hall Building. Prominently located on St. Charles Avenue facing Lafayette Square, Gallier Hall originally served as City Hall for more than a century hosting events throughout the Civil War, Reconstruction, and the era of Governor Huey P. Long.  It is recognized as one of the city’s finest examples of Greek Revival architecture and is renowned for its scholarly detail and proportions. Today this building is used as a venue for special occasions and remains a pivotal spot during the Carnival Season.
